Where Have All The Writers Gone?

I'm at a conference all day today, so this will be short and sweet. Plus I'm under a deadline for an article due Monday and I've had my daughter home from school for almost three weeks now. Her school discovered they had a mold issue. Anyway, I'm juggling like most mom writers. And I haven't even started my Christmas shopping. I try to tell myself I work better under pressure. But actually I feel like a bag of microwave popcorn popping all over the place. Someone let me out. Okay, enough of me.

One quick question: Where are you, writers? Are you busy with Christmas baking and shopping? I've noticed no one is commenting on our blog the past couple of days. Beth and I miss hearing from you.

Do you have any burning questions we can discuss? Chime in anytime. No rules. Feel free to write on or off topic. Remember we are in the beginning phase of this blog. We'd love to know what you want to talk about.

I'm here! =) I've been reading through a feeder and just haven't popped over here to leave a comment.

Y'all have inspired me to connect with a "local" writer's group, but I wasn't sure how to find one that would be right for me. Additionally, "local" is relative. I live in a rural, agricultural communnity and "local" means at least an hour away.

It just so happens (!!!) that there was a little paragraph in the church bulletin this past Sunday about a writer's conference in Bradenton early next year and the contact information of someone who was interested in forming a local Christian writer's group. (We attend church in that community an hour away.) So, this week I have been in email contact with that person.

I suppose a good question for y'all would be: "What are the characteristics of a good writer's group?"

BTW, Tiffany, I haven't started my Christmas shopping either. I'll probably do most of it online, but I better get busy doing so.

I'm here! Just swamped at work. This month is hectic because we all get the week between Christmas and New Year's off (yay!), but that means we have to edit and put together three journal issues this month instead of two (aaahhh! I can relate to the bag-of-popcorn feeling). So, I'm even more brain dead than usual when I get home from work this month.

Patricia, good call on advice for trying to find a good writer's group. I haven't had much luck with that yet, and I live in a fairly large metro area.

Me three ;-)
Like the rest of you, this is a wild time for me . . . the holidays are kind of crazier than usual in the social work arena. I'm happily resigning myself to no shopping this year--or very little, at least: that is a perk that goes along with my tendency to make presents.
Along the writers group question is mine: some women friends of mine are starting a book club, and I was thinking about how it ought to be helpful for me writing-wise.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to make a reading group inpsirational for writing?

Thanks for chiming in, ladies!
it's a busy time--and I got a surprise article myself (so nice when the editor calls and ask for an article!) and then I got the flu!!)

We'll just give each other grace!!!
